Arrival (to Kenya)

Jambo! We made it successfully to Nairobi! I won't lie, the plane rides were not awesome as none of us really got any sleep. But I did manage to make a few new friends who sat near me! Lars, Sandro, and a sweet family with two young children from London. I met up with a medical team in Newark (didn't know it was so close to New York City and it doesn't help when they sound almost the same too!). We traveled 8 hours to Zurich, spent all of 20 minutes or less there before taking off to Nairobi. But of course I tried taking a picture of the Alps from inside the airport ha. We arrived here around 6pm and then rode through the city to the guest house. And for the record, I don't plan on complaining about ATL traffic anymore- it's chaos here! We had a nice big meal, had some tea, a cold shower, and then it was time for sleep! Now it's morning and we are getting ready to head out for another trip around the city then too a MAF plane where we will then fly to Mujori, Kenya. From there we meet up with a TCOH team and travel to Tanzania via bus, I think. So exciting! The weather is pretty chilly here and overcast, probably in the 60's. The service here at ACK guest house is amazing. There are guards and gates everywhere. We are in a metropolis, but very much in Africa. I couldn't stop smiling the whole bus ride from the airport to the guest house. The only new concern I have is just how cold it will be at City of Hope. I anticipated warmer weather when I packed so hopefully the chilly weather won't be a distraction to what I'll be doing there. Pastor Nimrod is great. He's the one who picked us up from airport and is taking us this morning. He had to leave again this morning before we departed and said "Ok please give me 15 African minutes! Only 15 African minutes! Kingdom minutes!" We are still waiting for him and it's been almost an hour :) As Jamie York told me, I am definitely more suited for African time. And she couldn't be
more right! Since its currently 3am EST I will say La La Salama, which means Sleep well in Swahili. May God bless you today!
