Friends and family,
I cannot thank you enough for your prayers over my uncle. I received word this morning that uncle Tom passed away at 6:50p on Tuesday 7/31. Even though none of us were hoping for this outcome, I do believe the Lord heard our prayers. It was a difficult time for all of us, and the tragedy of his accident led to so many complications. I have heard the doctors and nurses provided amazing care for him, and family/friends surrounded him most all of the time. I had multiple opportunities to talk with my mom yesterday which allowed me to feel close to the family despite the geographical distance that separates us. Trusting that uncle Tom is at peace and finds ultimate refuge in the Lord, I would ask for you to please pray for Deb and Morgan (his wife and daughter). I know this will be a difficult time of grieving for them. And please lift up Tom's siblings also (brother Bill and sister June). As I've said before, I am so grateful for your prayers and support. I have questioned whether or not it would be wise for me to return home to be with the family. But my decision as of now is to continue fulfilling the call I've been given to serve here. It was encouraging to hear that the last conversation my mom had with uncle Tom was on Monday, July 17th when I left for Africa. My mom said he expressed interest and excitement for my trip. My uncle was not nearly as talkative as I am, haha - but like my mom, he had a kind, serving spirit with a unique laugh I'll never forget. I hope to serve the Kuria people here in remembrance of him and in honor of the Lord.
I will try to update again soon within the next week or so. Also, check my facebook page (www.facebook.com/lauralovinggood) since I am able to upload photos more easily that way. Thanks again for your continued support and encouragement! I am also able to check my email so feel free to drop a note if you'd like to do so: laura.lovinggood@gmail.com :)
